Kiruga Thuku has raised concerns over the delay in opening up Kîînu Access Road in chinga Ward.The Legislator noted that during a consultative meeting between the Committee and the County Executive Committee Members responsible for Transport and Finance, it was resolved that the two respective Departments ensure that a sum of KShs. 1 Million is allocated in the 2025/2026 Financial Year budget to facilitate the opening up of the road. Kiruga has now requested a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Transport, Public Works and Infrastructure seeking an explanation for the delay in implementing the Assembly's resolution. Lucy Wanyitu today held a consultative meeting with officers from the the Department of Gender and Social Services led by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Esther Ndungu and a section of Petitioners on a petition addressing rising cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Nyeri County.The petition calls for enhanced budgetary support in the 2026/2027 Financial Year to strengthen GBV prevention and response.Key proposals include establishment of a GBV Rescue Centre, publication of quarterly GBV reports and development of an integrated GBV data system to improve coordination, reporting and survivor support.
